To Kill A Mockingbird

This famous book was written by Harper Lee in 1960 about a case involving a black man, named Tom Robinson, who was accused of raping a very poor white girl named Mayella Ewell. Atticus Finch, a white southern lawyer with high moral standards, defended Tom Robinson. Fully convinced of the man’s innocence, he causes a stir as he actually fights against the trial’s predetermined conclusion. He tries to break the prejudices and biased traditions. Though Atticus is pressured, harassed and loses many friends over the course of the trial, he earns the respect and admiration of the black people in this small town.
